AKA Colette Rabin

Here's another.. probably not for the kids:

In Portland circa '93 I belonged to a gym and one hot day brought Anna
+ Maudie as my guests to swim in the pool. I only had one guest pass so
Anna took the alias "Colette Rabin". Well, sure enough, the woman who
worked at the place came out to the pool and asked if we were members
and what our names were. When Anna said "Colette Rabin". the woman
said, "No you're not. I know Collette Rabin, she's in my spnning
class". Anna, non - plussed, just kind of quietly said, "well, that's
weird" and kept on swimming.

Awesome!

I've got a story that is somehow similar. Anna always let Puppa run around sans leash in Central Park, which is a big no-no. In fact, she had an alias, Gina Vecchio, that she planned to use if she got busted in the future, b/c she did once get busted and fined some ridiculous amount by the doggie police. Anyway, I digress. So one day Josh and Anna and I were sitting on some unauthorized grass behind some ropes in the park, w/Puppa roaming freely. Along come some people on horseback. Unfortunately for them, Puppa really had a thing about horses, they totally freaked him out, he would even bark at statutes of horses, or if you even said "horsey." So he goes charging over towards said equestrians, full throttle, barking and growling like the maniac he was. Horsey freaks out and bucks off rider, who lands on her feet. Rider starts yelling at Anna about her leashless dog, etc., and Anna yells back at her, not backing down an inch, although I can't recall exactly what she was saying besides fuck fucking fuck this and that. So the lady gets on her horse and rides off, and Anna comes back over to me and Josh, who are a bit stunned by the whole thing, and says, indignantly, "I can't believe that bitch, what the fuck are they doing riding horses in the park anyway?"

Oh I'm chuckling. Another aspect of the magical mystery of Anna - how could I love so deeply one of the most disturbed and delusional dog-lovers ever to walk this earth?

Thanks for adding this story, Hannah, I was thinking that the Colette Rabin (who was a friend from Reed) story called for a Gina Vecchio story...

wait a minute, i think she actually DID get a ticket as Gina Vecchio... Good old Gina, i miss her too.

During the Gina Vecchio era, her answering machine actually included "Gina" as a resident for whom one (presumably a dog police) could leave a message. We need to get Kibby in on this conversation - afterall, she lived w/Gina.

Also, Jody, there are so many stories to tell about what a deluded doglover Gina was.

Just thought this one from Adam was sort of an alias, although more of a pretend/playful story:

i recently found all these old notes that anna and i used to pass to each other during math class (not sure if dario should know that his mom was a note-passer)... they were some real doozies - not appropriate for little dario ears. but a running theme throughout was that we would pretend that we lived in the suburbs and went to like a "grease" type all-american high school and she was a cheerleader/homecoming queen and i was her jock quarterback boyfriend and we would plan dates to the prom and the mall and inspiration point. many of them were in poems. maybe that's the dario tidbit - his mom was a really good (really funny) poet.

Sorry I didnt see this until now...

We came up with the name together as a better alternative to her other suggestion: Julie Christianson!
I was with her in the park when she was busted. She told them her name, and then they came over to me and asked me to verify it-'Julie what?'
Naturally, 'Christianson' didn't pop into my head.
We decided afterwards to plan better for such events and ran through a dialogue, using the name Gina Vecchio. ... x

By the way, I wrote the above but clicked on Anon by mistake... This episode was just one of the many wonderful events that regularly occurred in the company of Anna. I was lucky enough to be her side kick for a couple of years....
